The Carers Grant
What is the Carers Grant?
The Carers Grant is money from the
Department of Health which is passed to local authorities, i.e.
Bracknell Forest Council. The Local Authority must then use
these funds to provide a breaks service to Carers.
Who Can Apply for a Grant?
You can apply for a grant if you care
for someone on a regular and substantial basis.
You must be over 18, and caring for
someone over the age 18 to apply for an Adult Carers Grant.
About Individual Grants
We use a proportion of the funds to
provide individual grants to Carers. Carers can use this money to get
a break from their caring role. The funds can be used for a complete
break, i.e. a holiday, for funds towards care hours from a paid carer,
to pay for costs towards a college course or for membership to a club
or sports activity. The grant is very flexible; the most important
aspect of the grant is about providing a break from caring for carers, in a way
that best meets their needs.

form must be completed. You can either download one from this website,
